Not my Gallbladder...but you won't guess what it was

My doctor is an amazing man and I can't thank him enough for his bedside manner and caring nature for his patients. I met him at the hospital where he squeezed me in between surgeries.
After a brief examination he ordered all the tests, blood work, ultrasound, urine sample...the works....he was of the opinion that it could possibly be my gallbladder.

4 hours later...turns out it wasn't....but I was amazed at the prognosis....a spasming esophagus....a what? I thought the same thing...but apparently it does happen and it does present with similarities to a gallbladder attack. The reason? No idea why it happens, or how to prevent it.....just been given some Gaviscon and anti-inflammatory tablets to take if I have another "spasm" episode.

Bloomin' heck.....I am glad it isn't my gallbladder, she is stone free and healthy as.....but it certainly was a scare......

so I can safely go to Cambodia and enjoy myself and hope that I don't have a repeat performance.......but I will at least know what to do if it does.

Has anybody heard of this happening before?

thanks to everyone for the kind wishes and insight to their gallbladder attacks!

Yep, had the same thing (as have several others here on Blogger). I chalked mine up to a particularly tight episode. The radiologist says that they are very painful (I thought I was having a heart attack). Good news...I haven't had it since. Feel better and enjoy that trip! -BG

I am relieved and confused...at the same time. I am hoping to never know what this condition feels like... it sounds awful but I will at least have an idea what I am dealing with if I do... Thank goodness to my Roo. Enjoy Cambodia!

So glad your trip is still on. I had a terrible esophageal spasm in my twenties and had a month of trouble in October. It seemed to be triggered by my band. It's settled down now and I never had terrible pain but it does suck. Have a great vacation.
